Medicine Wheel Veterinary Service
Your horses and your pets are more than just animals. Whether they are part of the family or competitive athletes, they are always treasured. When they are in need of well-being, or care for illness or injury, you want a thorough and knowledgeable approach from someone who can offer more than the basics and thinks outside the conventional box. My mission is to create a new and better medicine through comprehensive care, research and education.

I have been a practicing veterinarian since 1989 in Canada, and broad experience has brought me to this point in my career. I started out as an equine/mixed animal practitioner, specifically based on my extensive equine competitive background. I then spent a number of years in small animal general and emergency medicine (all the while continuing to ride and show).

My interest in detail and physiology brought me to specialize in Anesthesiology in 1998, with board-certification and a Masters degree concentrating on respiratory physiology. This phase of my development created a strong focus in education, respiratory and neurophysiology, and pain management.

Pet Insurance
Report
Pet insurance pays, partly or in total, for veterinary treatment of the insured person's ill or injured pet.
Some policies will pay out when the pet dies, or if it is lost or stolen.
As veterinary medicine is increasingly employing expensive medical techniques and drugs, and owners have higher expectations for their pet's health care and standard of living than previously, the market for pet insurance has increased.
Pet insurance companies are beginning to offer the pet owner more of an ability to customize their coverage by allowing them to choose their own level of deductible or co-insurance.
FAQs
Report
The first time a dog or horse is seen the process can take up to an hour or more unless it is broken down into two visits, depending on the complexity of the issues.
Detailed information about the animal's history is needed.
A detailed examination is followed by treatment with chiropractic, postural and neurological exercises, and acupuncture.
Then herbals and nutraceuticals are discussed and a plan for followup is formulated.
Time for answering questions is allotted.
Subsequent visits are usually under an hour, once the animal's issues are better known.
Chiropractic Services
Report
Also called Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy, animal chiropractic is a medical modality of using rapid focused force to stimulate joints and nerves to reset nerve function, muscle tension, and therefore joint alignment.
Through these factors, ease of motion is achieved and a frictionless skeletal system is more closely attained.
For some animals with long term or chronic musculoskeletal issues, multiple sessions may be required to allow the body to gradually rebalance and strengthen.
Because the spinal cord supplies the nerve supply to the organs as well as the musculoskeletal system, improved function of the systemic physiology is also attained.
