We opened Animal Medical & Surgical Hospital in April 1992, bringing decades of veterinary experience to Metairie. Our founding veterinarian, Dr. Pat McSweeney, earned his LSU degree in 1984 and began his career at the Louisiana S.P.C.A. For eight years he educated the community as a regular guest on WDSU morning news, sharing vital pet health information. Dr. Pat also studied and taught the technical aspects of pharmaceuticals for major companies such as Pfizer Animal Health and Boehringer-Ingelheim. Our coowner, Dr. Carol Carriere, joined the practice shortly after its opening and holds the same LSU veterinary degree from 1984. Together we have established Animal Medical & Surgical Hospital as a respected drug trial clinic for the industry, a prestigious honor. Our professional and courteous staff is dedicated to delivering the highest quality medical, surgical, and dental care to every patient.
We emphasize responsible pet ownership, preventative health care, and ongoing healthrelated education for our clients.
