Dr. Wheelock graduated from LSU in 2002 with experience in zoo medicine and emergency care. He has special interests in surgery, dentistry, and exotic animals. He co-authored research on chameleon care and practices alongside his wife at Dilworth Animal Hospital.
Jill Smith-Wheelock
Veterinarian
Dr. Smith graduated from LSU in 2000 with honors in feline medicine. She oversees facility design and construction while providing veterinary care. She works alongside her husband Dr. Matthew Wheelock in managing the hospital's operations.
Michelle Cameron
Veterinarian
Dr. Cameron earned her DVM from Texas A&M in 2008 after completing an internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists. Her interests include geriatrics and feline medicine. She enjoys reading, traveling, and playing Mahjong with her family.
Carolyn Collier

Dr. Collier graduated from NC State in 2014 with experience in wildlife rehabilitation. She completed an internship in Florida before returning to Charlotte. Her interests include internal medicine and exotic animal care while enjoying Zumba and other recreational activities.

Dr. Theobald earned her veterinary degree from University of Florida in 2010. She has special interests in dentistry and end-of-life care. She relocated to Charlotte for family reasons and enjoys outdoor activities with her family and pets.

What emergency services do you offer after hours?
We provide emergency care during regular business hours. For after-hours emergencies, we recommend Carolina Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE) or Carolina Veterinary Services locations listed on our website.
Do you accept new clients and how do I schedule?
We welcome new clients. Schedule by phone at (704) 808-7387. A $25 deposit is required for first appointments, which applies to your visit or is refundable with 24-hour cancellation notice.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards and cash payments for veterinary services. Payment is required at the time of service, with financing options available for qualified clients through third-party providers.
Can I order medications online?
Yes, our online pharmacy at VetSource offers prescription medications, pet foods, and supplies. Current prescriptions from our doctors are required for controlled substances and prescription medications.
