February is National Pet Dental Health Month and, for the 21st year, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is co-sponsoring the popular 'Pets Need Dental Care, Too' campaign with the American Veterinary Dental Society and Hill's Pet Nutrition. Country Corners Veterinary Hospital is celebrating National Pet Dental Health Month this February as well.
Pets who receive dental services will be sent home with an at home care kit and samples of dental care products to help slow and control future dental disease at no charge. No coupon is required for this event. Dental disease is one of the most common problems we see at Country Corners.

Country Corners Veterinary Hospital, Inc. was founded in 2013 by Dr. Shannon L. Sullivan to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning her own veterinary Practice.
Dr. Sullivan purchased Country Corners Business Center in Oregon House, California in October of 2013, and selected a well-trained veterinary staff comprised of residents of the local area.
Country Corners was originally structured to provide service to primarily small animal patients; however our long term goal is to broaden the scope of our practice to include large animal and emergency services.

According to national heartworm infection statistics, Butte County is the number one county in California and Auburn is the worst city in California for heartworm infection.
We are located right between these areas and our community has a very high heartworm infection rate.
In the last year we have had 34 heartworm positive dogs and 39 positive Lyme disease cases.
There are no signs of early heartworm infection.
As the disease progresses lung and heart damage occur leading to heart failure.
The drug that treats heartworm (immiticide) is currently on manufacturer special order indefinitely which makes heartworm prevention even more important.
