Veterinary medicine became an interest while spending summers on her family farm and working at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic as a student.
She pursued pre-veterinary medicine at Kansas State University after graduating from Tonganoxie High School.
After graduation with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences, she was accepted to veterinary school at Kansas State University.
She graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2011.
