Animal Care Center of Plainview is one of the oldest hospitals in the Hicksville-Plainview-Jericho-Syosset area established in 1956 by Dr. Goris as Hicksville Animal Hospital when this area used to be farmland.
Hicksville Animal Hospital served all species including cattle, horses, sheep, goats, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and guinea pigs.
At the peak of his professional achievements, he sold Hicksville Animal Hospital to Dr. Poggi's administration.
Hicksville Animal Hospital flourished and served almost 8000-10000 clients at one time, and was ultimately sold to Dr. Jackie Shanata in 2001.

Animal Care Center of Hempstead was established in 1991 in Hempstead when the Village of Hempstead was going through a severe downturn.
Based on the success of North Shore Animal League at North Shore of Long Island, Animal Care Center of Hempstead was started as South Shore Animal Hospital and Adoption Center.
Because of funding limitations, with a heavy heart the adoption center was closed after about 2000 successful adoptions.
Since 1997, Animal Care Center of Hempstead has been serving the community as full service animal hospital.
