Dr. Fitzpatrick grew up in Andover, Massachusetts with a love for animals.
In 1980, she attended Colorado State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology.
She went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1989.
During her first year out of school, Dr. Fitzpatrick joined a small animal practice in Rochester, NY and volunteered at the Seneca Park Zoo where she continued her interest in zoo animal medicine.
Although fascinated with zoo animal medicine, it lacked that something that made daily practice special and unique; the bond shared between pets and their families.

In fact, it's vital for their good health.
In addition to decaying teeth and destroying bone, bacteria that have built up in the mouth can spread to vital organs (heart, liver, kidneys), causing serious - if not life-threatening - medical problems.
Bad breath and tartar buildup are the more obvious warning signs, but you can't always recognize the deterioration in its beginning stages, and animals can't tell you they are in pain.
Beaver Lake Animal Hospital utilizes non-invasive digital radiography technology to diagnose a wide range of health conditions in pets, from routine ailments to serious disease.
Digital radiography is a filmless x-ray system that produces immediate results, reduces exposure to radiation and requires less table time for your pets versus the traditional film method.
It is very good at viewing solid tissue, such as bone.
Therefore, it is often used when evaluating for arthritis or fractures.
In addition, it has many uses for evaluating soft tissue (organs).
