Dr. Hunthausen established Westwood Animal Hospital in 1985 in a small building that was once a service station. Since then with the support of thousands of pet owners the practice has rapidly expanded to four times its original size and from a one doctor to a four doctor practice. We are truly appreciative of our relationship with families who place their beloved pets in our care.
We strongly adhere to the Veterinarian's Oath. To fulfill the oath, we provide sophisticated medical and surgical care with a personal touch. Our wide array of services includes dentistry, digital radiology, laser surgery, vaccinations, on site lab testing, nutritional counseling, weight control programs, grooming, boarding, micro-chipping, obedience classes, and behavior consultations.

We work with two national laboratories and veterinary specialists, including orthopedic surgeons, internists, oncologists, ophthalmologists, dentists and dermatologists in the Kansas City metro area, to ensure that our patients receive the care they need for exceptional problems.

He frequently lectures and writes on the topic of companion animal behavior.
In his spare time, he is an avid photographer and enjoys writing, pool, cycling, movies and traveling with his wife, interior designer Jan Kyle, as well as hiking with their dog, Parker.

Wolf Park A nonprofit education and research facility which was established in 1972 by Dr. Erich Klinghammer.
Along with research and seminars on wolf behavior, particularly reproductive and inter-pack social behavior, Wolf Park provides interpretive programs to school groups throughout the year by prearrangement.
They are also open to the general public from May through November and Saturday evening for Howl Nights.
