Dowagiac Animal Hospital was founded in 1971 by Doctors Frank and David Butts and has stayed at the forefront of veterinary care ever since. Dr. Eugene Wilson became the owner in 2011 and is making every effort to uphold that tradition of excellence and progress. Doctors Frank and David Butts are a remarkable pair and have served this community so well, for so long, and in so many ways.
Their legacy will persist for years to come. Not only did they provide the absolute best medical care to our animal citizens, but they are also very active in the community. Our mission is to provide the highest standard of medical care for your pet and, at the same time, keep it as affordable as possible; in other words we want to provide the best pet care value.

Dr. Eugene Wilson, the owner of Dowagiac Animal Hospital, comes from a long line of cattle and dairy-men, but is from the first generation not raised on the farm.
He was drawn to the world of medicine his whole life and not only loves animals, but is intrigued by them.
Dr. Wilson attended Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and worked in Benton Harbor, Michigan his first two years out of school.
From there, he went to a small animal practice in South Bend, Indiana.
He has also worked at the Potawatomi Zoo and Notre Dame University.
