Dr. Kimball grew up in Atlanta, Georgia.
He initially enrolled at Georgia Institute of Technology to Study electrical engineering but realized that was not his passion.
Taking two gap years to travel the country, he worked outdoors with animals as a ranch hand in Montana and with a tree surgeon in Louisiana.
