The Marshall Animal Hospital story begins with Michael Paul Anderson. He bought an established equine veterinary practice in 1971 and grew it into a full-service mixed-animal hospital. Through strong work ethic, he built it into a reputable practice based upon stellar client service and dedication to every pet. Dr. Anderson improved animal care in the entire region with one exam room, a truck and working pens out back.
In the tradition of noted author and veterinarian, Dr. James Herriot, Dr. Anderson treated all creatures great and small and created many memories that are still vivid in our hospital. His son, Dr. Jason Anderson, joined him in his practice in 1996 after working at multiple locations in San Antonio for two years. They worked together one year when the elder Dr. Anderson passed away.
Over time, Marshall Animal Hospital began to transition itself into a full-service companion animal hospital with an emphasis on quality care and service for our clients, and stellar employees passionate about animal care.

Services
Wellness Visits
Report
At Marshall Animal Hospital our mission is to treat your pet like family and in order to do that, everything starts at WELLNESS!
Wellness is a twice-yearly exam, our core vaccinations, and laboratory testing.
This helps the doctors to ensure that your family member is given the best of care.
Examination - During your pet's exam the doctor will check their skin, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, heart, lungs, abdomen, and teeth.
As the doctor performs this exam, he will communicate with you step-by-step about what he is looking for.

Dental Care
Report
Keeping your pet's teeth cleaned is essential to their health.
Your pet can develop serious illnesses from swallowing bacteria for extended periods of time.
It can eventually cause heart murmurs, strokes, kidney disease, and liver disease.
By the time a canine reaches adulthood, 80% of them have already developed some form of gingivitis or periodontal disease.
Home dental care can help prevent either of these diseases from occurring.
Tooth brushes designed for canines and felines are best used as part of home dental care.

Spay/Neuter
Report
The common question is, "Why do I need to have this done?".
There are many reasons why spaying/neutering your pet should be performed, but the main reason is to improve your pet's health.
Female dogs have a high incidence of cancers of the reproductive system.
Spaying removes the ovaries and the uterus, preventing the production of estrogen, which leads to most of the reproductive cancers.
The vast majority of un-spayed older females contract a life-threatening infection of the uterus, called pyometra.

Grooming & Boarding
Report
At Marshall Animal Hospital we treat your pet like family in our day and overnight boarding.
When your pet is left in our care we treat it as one of our own, offering them a soft blanket and a bowl of fresh water and nutritious food close at hand.
We take your pet outside three times a day so they get plenty of exercise and time to eliminate.
Throughout the day we will also give them treats, such as dog biscuits, and plenty of love and attention.
Marshall Animal Hospital also offers a complementary bath for those who stay overnight with us!
