Shepherd Spring Animal Hospital partners with you to keep your furry family happy & healthy. Our Crawfordville veterinarians have served the community since 2008. Here, we treat pets like family. We understand how important your companion is to you - because they're there for you through the thick and thin of life, with a wagging tail or a happy purr, and unconditional love.
Our goal is to be your partner in taking care of your pet's physical and mental wellbeing, so you can enjoy many happy years together. So, whether your pet needs a checkup with a doctor. I grew up in Memphis, TN with my 3 brothers, sons of a machinist and a "stay at home" Mom. As a child and teen of the 60's, I struggled through school. After high school, I enlisted in the US Marine Corps.
As it turned out, those 4 years changed my life far more than any formal education after that. Self-determination, responsibility to myself and others, and a structured life, where effort and excellence was recognized, profoundly changed my personal view of myself.

We, at Shepherd Spring Animal Hospital, know what it's like to have a furry (or feathery, or scaly) companion who's there to greet you when you get home from work, cuddle up when you watch a movie, and be with you through the ups and downs of life.
In a way, you could say that pets make our lives whole, and open our hearts.
And that's why we do what we do - for the love of pets!

Behavioral Medicine
Report
Does your pet have some bad habits, like jumping on guests, scratching up furniture, or peeing in the house?
Note that for all behaviors in question, it's better to address them sooner rather than later - because once the behavior becomes a learned habit, it's harder to change.
Here are some of the pet behaviors we get the most questions about here at Shepherd Spring Animal Hospital.
Is your furry best friend a bit rambunctious, always jumping on guests or chewing up items around the home?
Or, do you have a cat who's climbing curtains and scratching up the couch?

Report
Actually, dental disease isn't just something that affects your pet's mouth.
It can also have negative health effects on the rest of the body, including the heart, liver, and kidneys.
That's because, when your pet's gums get inflamed and infected due to dental disease, bacteria can migrate into the bloodstream and spread to other parts of the body.
Dental disease is one of the most common medical conditions in pets - in fact, at least 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have some form of dental disease by the time they're 3 years old.
