Kankakee Animal Hospital was established by Dr. Murry, Sr. in 1954.
In those early days, the hospital was located on West Station Street in Kankakee.
After Dr. Gunning joined the practice, a new building was built at 2045 S. Schuyler Avenue in 1964.
This is our current location.
The practice has always specialized in small companion animals, primarily dogs and cats.
As the practice grew, Dr. Murry, Jr. joined the hospital in 1975.
Dr. Beeman joined in 1989.
Dr. Abrassart became a partner in 2004.

Meet the team

Dr. Joe Abrassart graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois in 1995.
He has worked at the Kankakee Animal Hospital since 2002 and took over the practice in January of 2013.
He enjoys building things, rooting for the Illini and the Cubs, fishing, and being outdoors.
Dr. Joe and his wife Carrie have a son who enjoys being with his dad.
Dr. Lisa Moeller grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago and graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
He has worked at the Kankakee Animal Hospital since 2002 and took over the practice in January of 2013.
He enjoys building things, rooting for the Illini and the Cubs, fishing, and being outdoors.

If you are leaving for just a day or for several weeks and want someone to take great care of your family pet please give us a call.
We offer drop-off and pick-up times 7 days a week.
Our Kennel staff's number one priority is the comfort of your pet.
At this time our groomer offers full service grooming and full service therapeutic bathing services for your pets.
