Hospital Policies
Report
GAH operates primarily by appointment in order to allow our doctors to give each patient the time and undivided attention that he or she deserves.
Emergency cases shall always receive top priority (which is why an occasional appointment delay is inevitable), but please understand that we make every effort to see each patient at the time their appointment is scheduled.
For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available.
Typically we ask that you drop your pet off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon or evening.

Routine Care for an Adult Dog
Report
2. Detect problems early, before they become too severe or costly to treat.
If caught early many disease processes can be more easily managed, thereby extending the lifespan of your pet.
Our preventative care recommendations are based on guidelines set forth by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and are tailored to each individual dog based on their hereditary factors, breed, age, medical history, and lifestyle.
We will ask questions about your pet's lifestyle, diet, and level of exercise and then our veterinarians will examine your pet from head to toe.

Puppy and Kitten Care
Report
Just like human children, puppies and kittens require additional physical exams and vaccine boosters to ensure that they are growing well and that they develop adequate immunity to the diseases we are vaccinating against.
Puppies and kittens should have 3-4 exams between the ages of 6-16 weeks.
These visits are important because they give our veterinarians an opportunity to assess your pet's overall health, make sure that he/she is growing well, and to administer vaccines.
Due to their immature immune systems, puppies and kittens must receive a series of properly staged vaccines.

Spaying and Neutering
Report
At Goodlettsville Animal Hospital we believe in the importance of spaying and neutering puppies and kittens to provide them with a long and healthy life and to help control the overpopulation of shelters.
Pyometra (infection of the uterus), which is a potentially life-threatening condition that can cost thousands of dollars to treat.
Occurrence is 100% preventable if your pet is spayed.
Over 1/2 of all mammary tumors are malignant and can spread to other areas of the body.
Early spaying (prior to your pet beginning her heat cycles) significantly reduces the incidence of tumor formation.

Senior Care
Report
When your pet has been with you for many years, not only do they become irreplaceable members of the family, they also need a little extra care.
Pets age much faster than people and therefore their illnesses develop faster also.
As your pet ages, your veterinarian may make some additional recommendations in order to keep your older pet as healthy as possible.
