About Us
Report
At TVA we all became equine veterinarians for many reasons, but first and foremost, is our love for the horse.
Delivering compassionate care of the highest quality is what we aim for every time we see your horse.
Getting to the correct diagnosis is critical.
The first step is to listen to you, the owner.
This takes time, but is one of the most important steps in reaching a diagnosis.
Secondly, we perform a thorough evaluation.
Finally, when needed, we can use some of the most advanced diagnostic equipment available in the field including digital radiology, digital ultrasound and video endoscopy to pinpoint the issue.

Dental Care
Report
Routine dental care can help your horse maintain their weight, accept the bit more comfortably and live a longer, healthier life.
Young horses can have problems when their permanent teeth erupt and may need wolf teeth and caps removed.
Older horses also need routine dental care.
A recent study showed that over 95% of older horses have dental abnormalities and the same study showed there is a correlation between horse's weight and the longevity of their life.
We utilize a range of oral diagnostic equipment including dental mirrors, specialized equine picks and, when needed, a hand held portable endoscope to clearly evaluate the horses mouth.

Field Surgery
Report
A new procedure has been recently published as an alternative for castrating the adult stallion.
This approach has a significantly lower complication rate than traditional open techniques as well as the currently used scrotal ablation technique.
It is performed under general anesthesia and can safely be done in the field.
If you have a mature stallion who needs castration please call us for more information.

Lameness Evaluation
Report
Lameness in horses is a serious and painful problem with several possible causes, and it is important to notice the signs early to improve the chances of successful treatment.
Lameness can show up as a head nod, a "weak hind end", or as a reduction in performance (slower times, loss of ability to perform movements, refuse fences or changes in behavior).
The causes of lameness can stem from hoof inflammation, injury or hoof imbalances.
In addition, acute severe lamenesses can be caused by broken bones and injured muscles, tendons or ligaments or foreign bodies in the hoof.
