Ukiah Veterinary Hospital was originally established by Dr. Art McChesney. He sold it in 1971 to Dr. Don Aldine, who ran the practice until the most recent sale to Dr. Edward Haynes in 1994. Dr. Haynes was born in San Francisco. He was raised in Marin County, lived in U.S. Virgin Islands, New York, and La Jolla, before returning to San Francisco Bay Area (Piedmont, Oakland, Hayward) then to Davis, Eureka, finally Ukiah.
Haynes' family pets include dogs, cats, rats, rabbits, chickens, Moluccan Cockatoo, American Kestrel, Red Shouldered Hawk, and a Great Horned Owl.
