We are the premier provider of exclusive feline veterinary care in the Fredericksburg area. Cats are unique animals and they require specialized techniques, handling, and equipment. At Just Cats Veterinary Clinic we are able to provide all of these and by maintaining a cat-only facility, lower your cat's stress level and increase comfort. At Just Cats Veterinary Clinic, we treat your cats like the valued family members they are.

Dr. Kathy grew up in Fredericksburg, received a B.S. at Duke and her DVM at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Pete (pictured) was a few days old when a Good Samaritan brought him to Just Cats and Kathy took him home. He later suffered from urinary tract issues and underwent perineal urethrostomy surgery. He is her special needs buddy and Kathy is convinced that he would trade her for a rotisserie chicken.

She has two grown children, a son in human medicine and a daughter in consulting. Kathy spends a large part of her free time sailing.

Cats are sneaky about their body language and their symptoms are difficult for many Moms and Dads to interpret.
We start by leading you through a detailed discussion of what you have observed at home.
You may not know how to pull all the signs you've seen together but most often we find that your "gut feeling" is correct.
We touch on appetite, litter box habits, demeanor, and zero in on specifics as we go over your kitty with a thorough exam.
Depending on your cat's age and symptoms, we obtain laboratory samples, radiographs, ultrasound or other tests to figure out what your cat is trying to tell us.
When illness requires care that you cannot provide at home, we hospitalize your cat.
Our goal is to treat your kitty until its care can be passed back to you so they complete their recovery in the comfort of your home.
In the event that 24- hour ICU care is required we have a local emergency center that provides a watchful eye overnight.
We are often asked to provide a second opinion to help confirm a cat's illness, educate family members about a disease process, and clarify treatment options.
Dr. Huntsman has focused on feline medicine for over 20 years, and if our hospital is not able to offer what your cat needs, we readily refer you to a specialist who is board certified in the area your cat requires.
