Many of us have become frustrated with the limits of conventional veterinary care. Our pets are frequently afflicted with the same chronic, debilitating diseases that we are - cancer, arthritis, allergies, asthma, skin diseases, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems, disc disease, etc., and to a great extent traditional medicine does not seem to be able to help.
It is Dr. Fallek's opinion that animals have the natural ability to heal themselves and it's the physician's duty to facilitate the healer within. Therefore she believes in using energetic and other natural modalities to rebalance the dis-eased being. She has found that there is rarely, if ever, the necessity to use toxic drugs. Dr. Fallek is a conventionally trained veterinarian who is now dedicated to a natural, holistic, drug-free approach to health.
She incorporates many healing modalities, tailoring the treatments to each animal's needs. Dr. Fallek is happy to announce that she is now a staff writer for Dogs Naturally Magazine, in print and online.

About
Report
My love of animals began when I was very very young.
However, initially my education and studies drew me in a different direction.
I always had a very inquiring mind and following my pursuit of knowledge and truth, I ended up with a degree in philosophy.
This has served me well in my life and my life's work, as I learned to think for myself, to question the accepted norms and to listen and trust my inner voice.
As I became a vegetarian when I was 17, I learned the difference between health and dis-ease.

My Book
Report
Krishna's Flute: The Spiritual Journey of a Holistic Veterinarian is a new book by Dr. Marcie Fallek.
Being published one chapter at a time, the book will be completed some time next year.
Below you will find a few chapters from the book which have already been released.
Hope you enjoy reading these inspiring tales and let us know what you think.
We'd love to hear from you.
Anxiously, I exited the crowded market in the small town of Puttaparthi India, where they had recently added a minuscule refrigerated section to the only 'supermarket' in this remote village.

Homeopathy
Report
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine developed approximately 200 years ago and practiced in most of the world.
It is a method of healing using the energy extracted from natural substances, such as plants and minerals.
This energized material is used to stimulate the body's own healing capacity.
It is not a drug, a vitamin or an herb, but purely energy used as a catalyst to help the body heal itself.
It is based upon the "law of similars" or in other words "treating like with like."
Or another example is Apis - the energy extracted from the honey bee's venom.

Acupuncture
Report
Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide variety of illnesses including arthritis, disc disease, paralysis, chronic gastro-intestinal problems, kidney disease, respiratory disease, immune disorders, etc.
Treatment for an acute problem, such as a muscle strain or a sprain, may require as little as one treatment.
Chronic diseases require a series of treatments.
When multiple treatments are required, they usually start intensively at 1-3 times per week and are then tapered down as the treatments gradually achieve maximal improvement- usually with 6-8 weeks.

Nutrition
Report
Oftentimes, our pet's disease is wholly or partly due to severe nutritional deficiencies.
We have learned that what we eat is central to our health and well-being, and so it is for animals.
I was very much taken by a lecture given by a colleague of mine on some differences she found between wild animals and our domesticated friends.
She was married to a wildlife veterinarian, and when she went on calls with him into the wilderness to seek out injured or dead animals, she said she was struck by the fact that not one of these animals was afflicted with any of the degenerative diseases that we so commonly find in our companion animals - no skin disease, no ear infections, no dental or gum disease or chronic arthritis or paralytic or wasting diseases.
