Services
Ponder Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories.
We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required.
The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, and a closely supervised hospitalization area.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, Ponder Veterinary Hospital stresses the importance of an annual physical examination.
Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help.
It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery.
Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past.
Here at pondervethospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem.
We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet.
First, schedule a physical exam to rule out a medical issue contributing to your pet's behaviors.
Sometimes, we will start your dog on a behavioral medication as well, which can take a few weeks for full effect.
Your dog's physical exam visit will determine if your dog needs a behavior consultation appointment.
A behavior consult is a full 1 hours appointment that includes: a thorough history questionnaire to be filled out prior to the appointment, prioritizing and tailoring a custom treatment plan, and starting behavioral training therapies.
Firstly, our pets can't speak, they cannot tell us if they feel off color or unwell or have any other indicators of internal illness.
We need to examine them every 6 months as well as run some routine screening tests to detect underlying disease BEFORE it is clinically apparent.
Use the age chart below to find your pets age in "people" years and the screening testing recommended for each stage of his or her life.
We believe the following tests give us the best chance of helping your pet's live longer, healthier lives.
