By connecting our nation's military Veterans with rescued animals, Pets for Vets helps create second chances and new beginnings. With over 600 successful matches and counting, we are changing lives one lick at a time. Making the perfect, lifelong match begins with our dedicated volunteer trainers who help select and prepare animal companions for their new lives.

Many brave troops return home with scars - both seen and unseen - that make it difficult to transition back to civilian life. At the same time, millions of wonderful companion animals wait in shelters for a forever home. Pets for Vets is the bridge that brings them together.

How Our Program Works
Report
The enduring bond humans share with animals has the power to reduce suffering, mitigate loneliness, improve mental well-being and bridge the gap between ourselves and others.
For our returning troops, these benefits are especially important to help ease the transition into civilian life.
Pets for Vets was created to improve the lives of both Veterans and animals by bringing them together in a thoughtful, caring way.
Our goal is to give back to the brave servicemen and women who have given everything to our country, while finding homes for deserving shelter pets.

Thank you for your interest in adopting a skilled animal companion!
Our program is open to any U.S. Veteran who lives in one of our chapter areas, is capable of caring for a pet and who could benefit from having a pet.
Pets for Vets supports Veterans in several states and we would love to serve even more.
However, we are unable to predict where and when a new chapter will open.
Chapters are run entirely by volunteers and each chapter needs a director to coordinate the necessary activities.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about what is involved in opening and running a chapter, please contact cclile@petsforvets.com.
