Rio Vista Veterinary Hospital was established in 1987 at its current location by Dr. Keith Scudder.
The property used had been in the Scudder family for generations.
Placed adjacent to the Cohcoton River, the name Rio Vista, a Spanish term meaning "river view", fit appropriately.
In those early days, the hospital was surrounded by a rich area of agriculture and was a mainstay for veterinary care for large animals in the community.
Three additions to the main building were later added.
One being a small area on the left of the building that was developed for a small store front, feline only examination room, and an exit door.
