About Us

Kittanning Veterinary Hospital was founded by Dr. Robert Lash in 1963 in his own home!
Dr. Lash was the sole veterinarian until 1970, when he hired his first partner, Dr. Gabriel Durkac.
Together, Drs.
Lash and Durkac offered small and large animal veterinary medical services for Kittanning and the surrounding area.
The practice then grew quickly, adding more veterinarians and staff, and required the construction of our current hospital building, the Animal Medical Pavilion, in 1979-1980.
The building's design actually won Veterinary Economics magazine's Hospital Design of the Year in 1980!

We also address flea, tick, and intestinal parasite control throughout life; and appropriate nutritional needs based on age and lifestyle.

At those times, Kittanning Veterinary Hospital has a number of tools that can quickly provide results, and assist with diagnosing your pet's condition.

We recommend pre-anesthetic blood work to ensure your pet's kidneys and liver can process the drugs.
Based on your pet's physical condition and procedure planned, we then create an anesthetic plan.
We have a number of drugs to choose from, to provide the safest anesthetic event possible.
Intravenous fluids are encouraged for all procedures to maintain blood pressure, flush anesthetic drugs through the liver and kidneys, and provide IV access in the rare case emergency drugs are needed.
