He founded Hickman Veterinary Hospital in September of 1977.
During his 40+ years as owner and head Veterinarian, he serviced his community by treating both large and small animals.
He enjoyed the variety of animals and situations that arose in a rural practice, as well as performing surgeries of all types and taking on the challenge of diagnosing unusual illnesses and injuries.
Dr. Tom was a Mason, held memberships with the American Veterinary Medical Association, board of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, Hickman County Cattleman's Association, Hickman County Chamber of Commerce, and board of St. Thomas Hickman Hospital.
