Conchester Animal Hospital was first constructed in 1960 deriving its name from the adjacent Conchester Highway.
Dr, Mead Shaffer and Dr, .
Donald Skinner conceived the idea while they were in the same class in veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Shaffer's father was a stone mason by trade and with some additional help they literally built the original part of the hospital.
Dr. Shaffer and Skinner originally lived at the hospital during its early years.
Since then a large kennel was added to house the ever growing needs of hospitalized pets.

We have provided you with information on what to expect on the day your pet has a surgical procedure.
It is required that you print and initial the last page and bring both pages with you the day of surgery.
Remember: do not give your pet any food after 8 PM the night before surgery and no water after midnight.
Do not give your pet anything by mouth the morning of surgery.
Drop off is between 8:30 and 9AM.
