Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic
We are located in the beautiful Sierra foothills, 12 miles outside of Placerville in the Pleasant Valley area. We are centrally located to serve Pleasant Valley, and the outlying South County areas of Grizzly Flats, Somerset and beyond, as well as Camino, Pollock Pines, Diamond Springs and Placerville. We are a full service veterinary hospital and are proud to offer the very best in veterinary medicine, diagnostics, dentistry and surgery.

As a health care team, it is our mission to provide a positive experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine for our clients, patients, staff and community. Although, we can only allow ONE PERSON (with a mask - vaccinated or not) to accompany your pet. When you get to the office, please call or text 530-644-2424 and wait outside until we are ready to take you into an exam room.

We still have curbside if you prefer not to wear a mask or have children or others that are with you.
Services
Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic was established in 1990 by Dr. Bob Prestwich and Dr. Rick Exstrom, who each owned their own veterinary hospitals in Placerville.
Dr. Prestwich and Dr. Exstrom saw a need for veterinary care in South County and the surrounding areas and developed Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic as a satellite clinic, independent of their own businesses.
We started with one doctor and two staff members.
Dr. Karen Jackett joined the practice 6 months after the grand opening, and the practice quickly began to grow.
Dr. David Johnson was raised in Southern California and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from U.C Irvine, and his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
During his career of over 30 years, Dr. Johnson has owned 3 veterinary practices in 3 different states.
This diversity of experience and knowledge acquired proves useful in his everyday practice of veterinary medicine and interactions with clients and their pet's medical needs.
Dr. Johnson shares his life with his wife, stepdaughter and dogs, and cats.
