At Carroll Veterinary Clinic, our goal is to strengthen the bond between people and their pets by providing medical, surgical, and pet care solutions to pets and pet owners in our nearby Blue Ridge Mountain and North Carolina piedmont foothills communities. Our veterinary practice is based on the belief that every pet is different and that each client has a unique relationship with his or her pet.
We take the time to listen carefully to your concerns and understand your situation. We invest in getting to know you and your pet so we can recommend the best solutions in each individual situation. Many clients visit us regularly from as far away as Roanoke, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. Others travel even farther to gain a second opinion from our doctors.
We are sincerely grateful for the loyalty, support, encouragement, and patronage of each and every client. We know you have choices when it comes to your pet's health care. You can rest assured that we will work hard to continue to be your first choice for the highest standards of care and the best pet health solutions.

Services
Carroll Veterinary Clinic was founded in 1984 by Dr. H. G. Mark Strauss, a veterinarian who fell in love with the local community, its pets, and pet owners.
Two years later, Dr. Strauss was joined by Dr. Jim Adams, a DVM who shared his passion for the area and for caring for animals.
Together, the two veterinarians started Foothills Pet Healthcare Clinic in 1999 to expand their practice and bring their solutions-oriented care to pets and pet owners in the Mount Airy region.
Since then, the practices have grown to include two additional DVMs, Dr. Jonathan Adcock and Dr. Teresa McKenzie.

Although born and raised in North Carolina, Dr. Jim Adams spent long childhood summers on his grandparents' small farm in rural southwest Virginia.
It was there that he was first inspired by the natural rhythms and work ethics of farm life.
The community's veterinarian was held in high esteem and the locals consulted him on everything from when to breed the cows, to local political questions, to how to fund their children's college educations.
Dr. Adams decided in his early teens to follow that path of community service and leadership, and he quickly developed a strong desire to help people by caring for their animals.

For most of us, our first exposure to animals is through a dog.
Canine pets are important members of the family and they occupy a special place in each family member's heart.
At Carroll Veterinary Clinic and Foothills Pet Healthcare, all four of our veterinarians live with multiple dogs, many of which have been rescued.
We understand dogs and how to provide them with a lifetime of quality care.
A dog's life can be divided into three distinct parts: Puppyhood, Healthy Adulthood, and the Golden Years.
